Summer Vacation Time

Summer Vacation Time

Summer Vacation Time

What a perfect time to fall in love with learning – to make friends with your brain!

One you do, the benefits will roll in like waves on a beach.

Do I hear screaming?

“Not summer school!”  “Not classrooms!” “Ahhhh!”

Well, for some that might be necessary, but I am talking more generally.

Keep those synaptic connections in your brain sparking, connecting, and growing so you can build on your network of knowledge.

This can be done in many ways.

Read and engage with the reading.  In other words, don’t read without thinking.

Write about it – talk about it. Yes, this can refer back to the reading, but you can prompt yourself to engage with all the things you do such as watching movies, videos, listening to podcasts, having discussions, news items, visits to tourist locations, trips to your local park (do you know the names of trees, flowers, weeds and so on in your area?), etc.

Wow!Wow

There are so many ways to learn – so many ways to expand your horizons and yet have fun at the same time.

The goal is to be “thinking” most of the time.  Play with thoughts and ideas in your mind.  Turn things around, even in ridiculous ways.  Not only will you retain more, but you might get a chuckle out of some of your imaginary creations.

Summer is a time to have fun, and learning is fun when approached in a positive way and when the results flow.

Summer is the perfect time to change your point of view about the whole education bit and your attitude and approach.

KeysHouseOh – and remember that it is your education, your brain, and your success.  Once you take ownership, everything becomes a lot easier. For example, think about the picture here and how it relates to the text and, beyond that, to your education overall. I would love to hear your thoughts.  Hint – there are several ways to analyze this.

If you are in summer school or formal classes this summer, make the most of it.  It is not the end of your world.  In fact, it might be the beginning of a whole new one!  Use the tips here and in other blog posts to enter education’s door willingly and ready to learn. When you head back to school in September, you will be that much further ahead.

Sometimes we need help and a little direction.  A coach (not name-dropping or anything, but Ron Johnson is one!) can be helpful.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch.
